As far as the keyboard goes, I think the controller is supposed to support modifier keys, so for example, if you hold the button on the backside plus A, it could function differently than just A by itself. Think of it kind of like playing with a laptop touchpad, albeit probably a really good one that also has haptic-feedback, and then also a subset of keyboard keys. Ofc, that doesn't mean it will be super awesome to play an RTS game, but it should at least "work". This seems like the "magic" that is aimed to let it work for more games.
